10 Scottish Books that Changed the World

As a contribution to the Homecoming celebrations in Scotland in 2009, SAPPHIRE joined Publishing Scotland in producing “Scotland Ink: 10 Scottish Books that Changed the World,” an exhibition reflecting on Scotland’s contribution to world knowledge and literary culture. The titles chosen showcased past and present Scottish works that have shaped thinking and writing in ten different areas, ranging from economics, science, nature and reference works to poetry, historical and crime fiction, children’s literature and Gaelic culture. The exhibition featured at Eden Court, Inverness from 1-31 October 2009, and was subsequently displayed at Lennoxlove Book Festival (13-14 November 2009) and the Wigtown Book Festival (24 September-3 October 2010).
